Return of 197 Ukrainian defenders: result of exchange and special operations

On March 19, the Coordination Headquarters reported the return home of 197 Ukrainian defenders, of whom 175 were released through exchange, and 22 - thanks to special measures outside the exchanges. Among the released were 149 military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 4 from the Territorial Defense, 11 representatives of the Navy, 8 National Guardsmen (including three from "Azov") and three border guards. Most of them defended Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk and other regions.

Among the released - 166 privates and sergeants and 9 officers. Three soldiers were under "investigation", which further complicated their situation. Separately, 22 seriously wounded fighters were returned, requiring medical care and rehabilitation.

The Coordination Headquarters expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for its assistance in organizing the exchange. The released prisoners will receive necessary medical care, psychological and physical rehabilitation, as well as material assistance and payments for the time spent in captivity.
